There are many reasons to keep your oil level on the lower end of the stick. First, Verados can run amazingly low on oil and still be fine, we have seen a few run 2 quarts low because the owner was an idiot and never checked his oil - but he was ok. High levels can allow oil into the supercharger if tilted in storage and if the engine starts making oil for some reason, there is nowhere to go except all over the engine. and remember, due to the engine configuration of all 4 stokes, the REAL oil level is revealed after two or three full tilts, hesitating 30 secs between tilts - then read in 10 min. Never check oil hot - always dead cold.
