no way to know unitl you do the refill test

1. fill the tank completly
2. reset both tach and speedo
3. go run around for a weekend or a day
4. refill tank - how much did it take?
5. compare with gauges..

the "fuel used" on the tach is the most accurate reading in the smartcraft system

I have a set of smart tach gauges version 4.01.
There is a discrepancy on the reading of the gauges and I don't know why or which one is correct. I have read thru all the manual but no info. Below are my stats and the question.

I have the gauge also set to read from my sending unit and also the gauge know it has a 90 gallon tank.

90 Gallon Fuel tank
60 % fuel left (tach)
60 Miles traveled
53 gallons left (speedo)
30 gallons used (speedo)
30 gallons used (tach)

90 gallon tank minus 30 gallons used = 60 Gallons

90-30=60

If both gauges say that 30 gallons have been used why does the speedo say 53 gallons remaining?

60% remaining in ruffly 37 gallons. So 37 + 53 would give me the 90 gallons that where put in the setting to calibrate the gauges.

The discrepancy is 7 or 8 gallons from one gauge to the other...

Which one is correct and what gauge should I trust?

Thank you ahead of time.

I remember when we calibrated the DTS it was at 0 and WOT 100. When I would move the throttle on the computer then the values would increase so I believe the DTS was calibrated correctly.

What is weird is that when the occurrence happened  holding the throttle wide open I would just back of and press the throttle down again and it would reach max rpm...

Its one of those intermittent issues hopefully it would give me a code soon.

If your not getting WOT at full throttle and you are getting WOT at less then full throttle (under the excact same conditions) bring it back to the dealer and have them plug into lap top and possibley re-cal DTS....Its a long shot but to be honst its the first time I have heard of this occurence.....500 RPM is not that big a number and could varry quite easily due to a minor change in trim, wind, current or posistion of trim tabs.....Are you saying that if you back off the throttle, the RPM's go from 5500 to 6000?...... If so, Bring it back and have it resolved.

I am looking at a supposed great deal on a 250 hp 2006 verado. The person is saying compression is 130 on all cylinders. I have read on here 180-200 and a friend said 160-190. So is the 130 a huge problem? I figure it is probably will be but want as many opinions as possible.

Voltage is o.k. tested on the Mercury computer. Dual AGM
Fresh 87 octane gas (full tank)
plug #6 tan (spark down test on the merc computer o.k)
25% on the hash
no alarms
land yard on
Float switch  changed 1 three weeks ago.
new motor no corrosion protectant

New motor only 5 hours. I'm in the break in period. When I run the WOT intervals for 1 min. I noticed that on two occasions the engine would not go over 5500 however all other times I could achieve 6000. It seams like if the DTS or the throttle was not reading 100%. I would back off the throttle and It would get 6000 RPM's again.

Could this be due to a bad connection on the throttle DTS Cable?

Thanks, so much new Verado Owner
